About — Mission

    The mission of
    Principled Business.

A movement of business leaders committed to advancing the principles of capitalism — through clarity, conviction, and example.

"The problem with socialism is socialism. The problem with capitalism is capitalists."

    — William Schlamm

    Chapter 01

    The Problem

Capitalism is widely misunderstood and so vilified — whether by society at large or even by business leaders themselves. The cause is not simply an intellectual one. It is born out of people's experience with businesses and business leaders.

Too many business leaders have led these misunderstandings and live out the stereotype of the capitalist villain. Sometimes by remaining silent about — or actively opposing — the principles of capitalism, the system in which they operate. And sometimes by not adhering to those principles in how they run their business.

Not enough business leaders are driven by principles to advance capitalism.

    Chapter 02

    The Solution

A movement of principled business leaders committed to being the strongest advocates and most exemplary representatives of capitalism and its core principles.

It's time to call upon business leaders to be the best representatives of and advocates for capitalism that they can be. It's time for Principled Business.

    Chapter 04

    The Principles

Principled Business Leaders are pro-capitalism and committed to its principles — striving to embody them, advocate for them, and collaborate with others on them.

Capitalism is the system of voluntary trade of goods and services. A number of principles underlie this system:

    01

    Respect for Individual Agency

The concept of voluntary exchange and private property depends on a respect for each individual's agency, dignity, and rights.

    02

    Value Creation

Profit is a byproduct of creating value for others that did not exist before. Making money is different from taking money from others.

    03

    Alignment of Interests

To engage in voluntary trade, there must be an alignment of interests — a win-win-win where everyone is better off thanks to the trade.

    04

    Collaboration

To engage in economic trade, people need to collaborate. Capitalism isn't about competition as much as collaboration between people, finding ways to help each other.

    05

    Increasing Opportunity

The result is the opportunity for everyone to do what hasn't been done before — to create new companies, products, roles, and value that didn't exist before.
